I've finally gotten 'round to writing a review on the Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Soothing Treatment Lotion. And you thought the Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm had a long name?!
Some people don't really 'believe' in toners, some people do. I am one of those people that absolutely adore using a toner. It's an absolute essential part of my skincare routine and one I could never skip. I have three toners in my "arsenal". I have an exfoliating toner that I use every evening and a softening/moisturising one that I use afterwards or on it's own in the mornings. The Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Treatment Lotion is one of those extra steps on standby, ready to come to the rescue when needed!
I pull this little gem out on days when my skin just isn't "feeling right". That could be it's either congested, feeling particularly dehydrated, or is just looking a bit "rough". I also use it if I know I've been feeling particularly stressed, have gotten too little sleep or had a glass of wine too many. It's also my toner of choice when my skin is breaking out as it helps calm it down and reduces redness, making it an especially good friend in the morning.
I tried using this as my everyday toner for a while, but found it didn't have the same effects as my skin got used to it and I eventually felt it did nothing. So it got downgraded to one of my "extra products", but it's a fantastic one at that! I've re-purchased this about 5 times already and will continue on. My skin is far less sensitive than it used to be, but it's still somewhat unpredictable. And on those days having this around makes all the difference.
A few years ago my skin was quite sensitive. Partly due to using too harsh products, experimenting too much with different products and also a bit of over exfoliation. The latter due to very ill advice from a "skincare specialist" who clearly wasn't much of a specialist at all, but we'll leave that be. After trying a bunch of stuff that didn't work, I finally tried the Mega-Mushroom Mask and loved it. I then bought the Moisturiser and eventually this toner. After continued use for almost two years I considered my skin almost "treated". The line calmed my skin down dramatically and reduced sensitivity and reactions. Dare I say my skin is now bordering on fairly normal? *knocks on wood*.
The bottom line is I contribute a lot of stress-relief to these products. Not just for my skin, but to starting every day out on a much better note from not having to deal with problematic skin. While I only still use the toner, I highly recommend the line to anyone suffering from sensitive skin, and the toner as an extra little add on treatment for absolutely everyone. It's a fantastic range of products!
