Rave or Fail : Accessorize Merged Baked Blusher in 7 Wowzer

I can't remember exactly why I got this blush ... the Monsoon accessory brand Accessorize had me enamoured at its birth but after the novelty of its arriving ended ... I didn't really feel compelled to buy from the brand - especially when it was not on offer. Don't get me wrong the baked blushes, eye shadows and nail varnishes look gorgeous. Most of the packaging is nice although a bit too flouncy / old granny motif for me and trust me I like butterflies really I do (I've bought lots of butterfly jewellery/clothing in my life) but, the labelling of the name and the way the butterflies are placed makes me think of wizards and not in a good way (and I like fairytale/folk stories ... Terry Prachett Fan/Reader right here!). Meh ... maybe its because I feel that their products are overpriced (yeah I said it) and their shades never really seem to be (bunny ears) "women of colour" friendly. Plus finding out that the only nail polish I own from the brand had Formaldehyde Resin in it, has probably/possibly put me off buying anything more (especially nail polish related) from the brand. Anyway enough of my mini rant ... this is about the blush so where do I begin ...

... it really is less bright in real life ... think cool toned and paler ...

As you can see it is pink, baked and seemingly frosty. If you're dark like me you'll probably be running to the hills in fear of what this thing could possibly do to your cheeks. I think I bought this because all the bronzers in store were either out of stock or they looked dodgy (tampered with/breakable).  So I bit the bullet (like a G, man I've been listening to far too much hip hop lately) and bought this and guess what ... it's actually ... quite nice. Yes I admit it : I do not, would not, cannot really use this as a blush but, as a highlight its kinda ... oh la la. Applying this on the cheekbone will give you a gleam that screams "look at me I'm just healthy". The shimmers in this product are super fine and although they are frosty (lets face it now this is a mixture of purple, pink and silver) they make the skin have a sheen that's just purty

Don't misunderstand me though ... overuse will possibly make you look crazy. However, I believe/think that any skin tone can use this to highlight and if you're on the paler side you could get away with using this as a blush (imma just guessing now).

Also, if you have oily skin and cannot get away with creamy blushes or highlighters (raises hand a bit) to gives your cheekbones radiance - use a powder with super fine shimmers that will give you a sheen/illuminating effect on your cheekbones  Basically you are going to get the same affect using a sheeny powder as a cream blush, the benefit though is that the powder will last longer on your skin.

So after all that ... is it a rave or fail ... well weighing everything up I think its somewhere in the middle of awesomeness. With that said though, the company could really do with revamping its image, getting rid of the nasty ingredients in their products and generally being more fashion forward instead of frumpy (lashes whip). I don't know what's come over me today (clasps hands over mouth). That may not be too fair to this blush the container is quite sturdy and I do like it, everything else though questionable ...

Oh + I bought this for £3  (for 8g) usually it retails for £6 *edit* £4.95  but like I said I is a G so ... respect I the cheapskate ;o)

Anyway

Ingredients: Mica, Talc, Polyamide-12, Paraffinum Liquidium, Dimehicone, Magensium Aluminium Silicate, Phenosyethanol, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, CI 77891, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499, CI 77007, CI 15850.

*Update* After realising that it appears very ashy as a highlight on my skin tone in flash pictures - I gave it away to a friend with a lighter complexion :). Currently (01/09/14), I'm on a mission to whittle down and utilise my stash so letting go of this blush was hard (not really) but I needed to do it (I have enough highlighters in my collection) plus it has a great home now :).

So what are your thoughts? Do you like the Accessorize brand? Is it something you always buy or is it only appealing at sale time?
What blushes have you bought that you've ended up using as highlighters?
What are your favourite blushes/highlighters?

Your comments are always welcomed and appreciated !
Best wishes and all that jazz ;o) !!
