Today I'll be reviewing the Tarte Grav3yard Girl Swamp Queen Palette. This has been a highly anticipated palette, not for myself, but for fans of Bunny - the gal behind Grav3yardgirl. I'm not trying to say I'm not a fan of hers but you know, I know there's people that are excited because this has her name on it and that ain't me. I'm excited because this is Tarte - a brand I LOVE with eyeshadows and highlighters that I've raved to you guys about so when I saw the beautiful selection of colors that Bunny came up with I knew I needed it. I appreciate Bunny's thought process behind the palette in having a palette that contains a full face of makeup (I mean ok, obviously not complexion products like foundation or concealer but you can't do that and have a universally flattering - for the most part - palette) and a brush. Now the brush is kind of small for the face but hey, better than no brush, amirite? Alright without further chatter - if you'd like to know more about the how and why's behind the palette please watch Bunny's video here and enjoy my review.
Availability: This retails at $45 for 9 eyeshadows, a bronzer, a blush, and a highlighter and is available at sephora.com and ulta.com as their respective physical store locations along with tartecosmetics.com

Notes: Commentary on each color will be done below. Overall, this palette is pretty fantastic for day-to-day makeup and is a reflection of the kind of makeup and colors that Bunny wears. However, be aware that a lot of textures here are metallic and some do have glitter chunks in them so if you're someone who doesn't like sparkle then this isn't for you. I happen to LOVE Tarte's more satin and metallic textures and wish the Tartlette palettes contained more so this was a bit of a dream come true in that sense. In terms of actual texture - everything here is really smooth and blends fairly easily. Like the Tartlette palettes this has a vanilla scent but it is SUPER STRONG in this palette in comparison to the Tartlette palettes and I'm not sure what that's about.
Sweet Tea is very pigmented bronze tan shade with gold microglitter. A little goes a long way - this is by far the most pigmented bronzer I've ever used.
Does This Thing Really Work? is a pink-toned berry with berry and gold sparkles to it. Very pretty.
Gator Wings is an amazingly glowy, warm ice gold with chunks of golden white glitter (sadly, it'd be better without the glitter), which is beautiful but not for the faint of heart.
#SFS is described as a rose gold. This is a soft, glowing satiny rose copper gold tone.
Natural Peaches is described as a peachy nude. I would say it's a matte soft peach tone.
Dogman is described as a burnt sienna. This is a STUNNING orange-y brown shade with golden sparkles. I'm in love with it.
Big Baby is described as a cream. This is a fair-tone fleshy nude.
Sassy Bun is described as a copper peach. I would call this an intense rosy, coppery gold - it's one of my favorites in the palette, so glowy and gorgeous.
Sippy Sippy is described as a glittery brown. This is a beautiful matte plummy brown, it almost looks like cocoa powder, infused with beautiful gold shimmer chunks. Sadly the gold doesn't really transfer to the lid. I imagine if you used one of the glitter glue primers it might, otherwise not really. :/
Haunting is described as a lavender. This is a very unique tone - a heavily grayed, almost taupe lavender. Quite pretty.
Uncommon is described as a purple slate. Another truly unique color, this is a rosy purple-brown tone.
Mancat is described as a deep plum. This is a beautiful matte purple-y plum tone.
The brush included in here has no particular name outside of having the Tarte logo stamped into its ferrule. It's a paddle-shaped brush that's a little shorter than your standard eyeshadow paddle brushes and is a bit fluffy at the top to allow for blending. It's made of a synthetic fiber, like all other Tarte brushes because Tarte avoids using animal hair. I personally have yet to use it so sadly I can't tell you how I feel about it, but it's smart to have included a brush for travel/touch-up purposes.
Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.
